What a wonderful Christmas lunch was had here at Currawarna. We warmly welcomed community members, family, friends and residents to an amazing lunch. Our super Chef Zoren, yet again out did himself on the food front, staff created stunning table settings and decorations, and everyone brought joy, laughter and good cheer. It is a wonderful round out to a fantastic year, and we are so happy to be able to find ways to blend the wider community and Currawarna into one.
Huge thanks to all our super star staff who always go above and beyond every day of the year to make sure Currawarna feels like home, not just a place to stay, and for making sure today’s big turnout was the success it was.

Over the past two days, Stage 5 students at Bombala High School have been actively involved in community service activities across Bombala. They have contributed their time and effort to gardening, cleaning, maintenance, setting up for Christmas at Cathcart Hall, fixing sprinklers at the Exhibition Oval, and spending quality time with children and community members at various local places.
We want to say a big thankyou to the students for giving some of their time here at Currawarna Assisted Living. It means so much to have the community involved, and especially the wonderful relationship we are building with both the high school and primary school.
Kudos to the students’ dedication and the positive impact they’re making in our community!

The local businesses rose to the occasion, getting behind the event and donating to the lolly bags for the kids, while Bombala High School loaned the most perfect lounge!

Today our school enthusiastically participated in the annual National Simultaneous Storytime, a vibrant event that unites thousands of children across Australia in reading the same book simultaneously. This year, the selected title was "The Truck Cat" by Deborah Frenkel, and at 12:00 PM AEST, our students joined in the excitement alongside the wider Australian community.
Our students enjoyed a variety of engaging reading experiences, including teachers reading the book aloud, watching a live-streamed reading online, and welcoming local truck driver Mark Rodwell, who came to read to our Year 1/2 class. Additionally, our Kindergarten and Year 6 students had the opportunity to visit Currawarna, where a resident shared "The Truck Cat" with them, enriching their experience with a personal touch.
After the reading, Year 6 students shared their own stories with their Kindergarten buddies.

Bombala Primary’s shared reflection on the visit, says “…. the students learned valuable stories and information from our amazing elderly community. We are proud to have Currawarna so close to our school and appreciate the friendships we are building. We look forward to visiting again soon!”

How super lucky are Currawarna residents to have talented chef Zoran Russell at the helm, whipping up delicious and nutritious meals! (ok, so the desserts always seem to be the photographed ones, but we can assure you that the mains are just as fantastic).
Always thinking of new menu items, always endeavouring where possible to source and use local produce, always presenting meals beautifully, Zoran - who has a smile for everyone - is a very valued member of the Currawarna staff.
